Improved Public Spaces – A Greener Centre for Huyton

The scheme will create a new public green space for everyone that is complementary to the high street feel of Derby Road. Key features include:

• A new celebratory setting for the relocated cenotaph in pride of place directly opposite the entrance to the new Council HQ and visible from Derby Road. This space will allow for both quiet personal reflection and public commemoration.
• A green civic heart for Knowsley, with open views, clear spaces and the capacity to host activities and events. It also creates a pleasant amenity space for both town centre residents and visitors.
• There will be lots of space for people to sit, relax and socialise away from the hustle and bustle of the high street.
• Spaces which promote wellbeing and enhance biodiversity.
• Enhanced walking links back to Derby Road and the station will include improved surfacing, lighting and opportunities for public art.
