A More Connected Huyton – Highways, Access and Sustainable Transport
The scheme has been carefully designed to ensure easier access around and through Huyton Village in the following ways:
- New cycling and walking routes through the site, connecting with existing routes, the wider town centre and Huyton Bus and Rail Stations.
- The reconfiguration and consolidation of some of the existing car parking to other locations within the town centre
- A new car park to replace the underused and unsightly multi-storey car park on Lathom Road, with better facilities including improved lighting and security.
- New parking provision will provide for sustainable transport modes e.g., EV charging point spaces, cycle parking, car sharing.
- Servicing and delivery vehicles for the new residential and commercial uses will be carefully managed through the site.
- Overall the scheme aims to deliver on the community’s transport needs, improve bus and rail connectivity, and prioritise sustainable transport modes, aligning with the Council’s net zero carbon goal by 2040.
- Accessible parking and pedestrian routes will be integrated throughout Huyton to ensure safe and inclusive access for all users, supporting both mobility and wayfinding from arrival to entrance.
